at rolling stone magazine who grew up in the detroit area returns to the city to present a history and profile the influx of artists, environmentalists and city planners who are reemerging the urban landscape. this is a little under an hour. the national league and go on to detroit and unfortunately with detroit with all due respect they didn't know what they were in for. [cheers and applause] you fans, this city, this organization, this team wants all of us, or tries to make all of us better men, better people, better husbands, better friends. larry alluded to it the life lessons watching these guys perform everyday and we have a phrase for it "feeding the beast". this game is a rugged game and like life you need to put a lot into it and they became teammates and competed like nobody has seen. i am humbled to be part of this. i am so happy for all our family and friends and this is why we do this, and you folks will be etched in time and in history as one of the greatest teams not only in san francisco history but in baseball. flying back from detroit on monday as the city flew over the beautiful city in the bay area we all in the giants family wish we could go door to door to blow kirbs to every one of you to return the unconditional love you provided us selling out all 89 home games and all the wonderful fanses, and i see some of you that traveled withed team, road warriors to make road games feel like home games. you inspired us. we know you filled this plaza on sunday when we were in detroit. we know you cheer friday your couches at home, from your neighborhood street parties and then throughout october with the city we lit up the city. it was a washid orange from coit tower to the ferry building to right here at city hall. what can we take away from our 2012 giants? i believe we can take away life lessons. vuch teachable moments for our children and our team did face challenges and whether facing injuries or newly acquired players or facing elimination game one after another. what were the life lessons? never give up no matter how high the mountain is to climb. have integrity and conduct

. reinventing michigan, let me just zero in on one city in your state, detroit, 18.9% unemployment which is absolutely deplorable for the people of detroit. what do you intend to do or what can you do? what can the state do to try to help the city? one city council men last night said as a quid pro quo she wants the president to bail them out. what do you plan to do about detroit? >> we are going to continue working with the city. we did a consent agreement with them earlier this year that called for a number of actions to happen because we do need better services for the citizens of detroit. they deserve it. and we need to achieve results. the problem is the mayor and the city council haven't been able to get on the same page. we are going through the process now of saying if they don't get it done, we are going to start a review, hopefully next week, that will go on for 30 days to say if it doesn't get done, there are other actions, including emergency managers that we should be considering for detroit. so i'm clearly encouraging the city and the mayor to get these issues on the table,
